The best way to solve most masonry and concrete problems is to stop the water from penetrating into it bysealing it with the proper sealers and capping chimneys and retaining walls.
Never pressure wash brick or cultured stone unless done by a professional that understands the brick or stone. Many times non professionals destroy the face of the brick or cultured stone.
Solutions to common problems
Never paint masonry or concrete. Water gets trapped behind the paint and penetrates into the materials. The paint will peel and ruin the materials that were painted. This is very costly to repair.
Never use salt melt that isn't safe for concrete or masonry.
Never use a sealer that isn't specifically designed for the brick on your home.
